El matcha ceremonial es un té verde pulverizado tradicional de Japón y parte fundamental en la ceremonia de té de este país. Se obtiene de la molienda de hojas de té verde tencha y tiene la particularidad de que es un té que se “come”, es decir, se bate en agua y se consume sin quitarse de la infusión. Antes de ser cosechadas, las plantas de té, son mantenidas a la sombra durante 3 a 4 semanas, proceso con el que se logra su característico color verde intenso y su sabor umami, el quinto sabor, que significa sabor delicioso en japonés.
